3 Steps to better quality

When you have a dream or goal to reach, you generally give your best day in and day out. But giving your best doesn’t always equal achieving the best results, unfortunately.

Here are three ways you can increase the quality of your work to move closer towards better results.

1. Analyse your system, regularly

Times and technologies change. You need know know how you can take advantage of all the tools available today to help you, and to do that, you need to know your system intimately. Take it apart and look at it from all different angles.

Look for opportunities to improve throughout the process, weaknesses in the chain that can be strengthened. Sometimes all it takes is a little tweak to save hours of time or bundles of money. Don’t be scared – it might be ugly, but it is definitely worth it.

2. Get to the end, and then go that little bit further

As important for personal development as for product manufacture, this concept will set you apart from the rest. Once you have finished a project, spend just a little bit more time on it. Try to improve it just that little bit more.

Realistically if you have done a really good job, you won’t be able to add that much, but even the smallest further improvement can have fantastic returns.

3. Look at the Data

Yes it’s just a piece of paper. But numbers don’t lie. It can be discouraging to look at statistics because they are pure numbers and don’t show the blood, sweat and tears that have gone into something.

But they do show how much that effort is paying off. If you are bending over backwards on something and the results don’t show it, maybe you need to think about changing tack.
