50,000 students; a proven quality of teaching; prestigious installations; the best academics on offer in its country; a tradition of higher education for almost two centuries.
With all of these characteristics and this impressive portfolio, it’s understandable why the Central University of Ecuador will receive on Monday, May 27th of 2013, the prestigious International Quality Summit award given by Business Initiative Directions.
This award distinguishes the best companies in the world for their commitment to excellence and quality, as well as their investment in constant innovation.
With 187 years of experience educating students since its inauguration in 1826, this center holds its main campus in Quito but also has satelite campuses around the entire country, specifically in the South of Quito, in the city of Santo Domingo de los Colorados and in the Galápagos Islands.
Today, the Central University of Ecuador boasts 16 departments, offering a total of 40 degrees among its schools. The department of Medicine and Jurisprudence are the two oldest in the country and the most renowned, although other departments such as Art, Architecture, Urban-planning and Odontology are also highly acclaimed.
With 8,000 employees among professors and administrative staff, this university is currently run by the president Edgar Samaniego Rojas and has as its slogan “Omnium Potentior Est Sapientia“, which means “Wisdom is all-powerful”. Precisely this message is written on the band of the university’s shield.
Representatives of the university will receive the award in the heart of New York, in the convention hall of the New York Marriot Marquis, situated right in the central of Manhattan.
